TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR SOXS, THEN YOU WILL ENJOY THEM EVEN MORE!

Everyone who buys SOXS should be able to use them for a long time. That is very important to me. We don’t make our socks for short-term use. It is not a disposable product that slips off your feet after wearing it a few times or shows signs of wear. We do our best to deliver a beautiful and durable product that you can enjoy every day. However, it is important that you handle them in the right way. Therefore, we give you 7 handy tips for washing our wool socks, legwarmers, scarves and hats!

Don’t wash

Washing our SOXS is actually not necessary. Because our wool is almost completely self-cleaning. The protein in wool neutralizes odors and harmful substances from sweat, so bacteria have less opportunity to develop and produce an unpleasant odor. Wool also contains wool grease (lanolin), which ensures that water and dirt do not penetrate the fiber. The wool actually repels it! So washing is not always necessary. Shaking it out and letting it air in the open air works wonders.

Do wash

Uhhh, what is it, wash or no wash? You don’t have to wash our socks, but I can imagine that you would like to. Because they become dirty for example. Our SOXS have already had their first wash at the factory, so you don’t have to worry about them shrinking. To keep your SOXS in the right condition, there is one important rule and that is: to wash them in the right way. With the tips below you can optimally enjoy your lovely socks.

Washing wool socks

Do you want to wash your SOXS, please observe the following rules:

1. Use a wash cycle for wool or for delicates

This is really important as a wool cycle allows the temperature to rise and fall slowly, which prevents the wool from ‘startling’ and shrinking. In addition, the spin speed with a wool wash programme is lower than in a normal washing programme, which prevents the SOXS from being wrung out.

2. Use detergent for wool

Use a small dash of special detergent for wool and silk. This preserves the fibers. Do not use fabric softener or synthetic detergents! This is disastrous for wool and shortens the lifespan of SOXS considerably. So wash them with our SOXS detergent so you can wear them even longer! Extra sustainable!

3. Wash at 30 ºC

Set your washing machine to 30 degrees. Absolutely not higher! Our wool can’ t handle high temperatures. Make sure the spin speed is set to 600 rpm.

4. Do not use a dryer

Please do not put our SOXS in the dryer. It is way too hot and it will cause little fluffy balls, also called pills.

5. Do not iron

Ironing is not necessary. Just put them on your feet and they will be back in shape in no time.

6. Never use bleach!

I think it is completely unnecessary to mention this, but I will repeat it anyway: never use bleach. Our wool really doesn’t like bleach. It doesn’t clean them, it makes them pale and spotty and takes all the power out of our socks.

7. A stubborn stain?

Then massage the stain lightly with, for example, ox gall soap and let it soak in for a few minutes. Rinse the socks well afterwards.

Hand-washing wool

Do you prefer to wash your SOXS by hand? Then use lukewarm soapy water (max. 30 degrees) with a dash of wool detergent and leave them to soak for a maximum of 5 minutes. Do not rub the socks together but make squeezing movements. Rinse them with lukewarm water. To dry, lay the socks flat in the right shape on a towel on a drying rack. Do not wring them out. And under no circumstances leave them in the sun.

Washing in the right way gives long pleasure!

If you wash your wool socks like this, you can enjoy your SOXS for a very long time. And that is exactly what we want.

Love,
